It was all about the beach lifestyle when the
Cosentinos built their Sarah home

Making the most of the beautiful views at their beloved Victor Harbor drove Domenico and Anna Cosentino to the Whiteley two-storey design. "For the past 30 years, we have been coming down here every single school holiday and we have just grown to love the area," Anna says. "When we finally decided to build a home here, we wanted something where we could see the ocean and the town from our balcony." The home was built as an investment property and is rented out when the family is not there, but Domenico says he and his wife spend about two weekends a month at the property.
Their two sons, Ben, 20, and Tom, 18, also often spend time there, either with their parents or with friends. "It's close enough to Adelaide for us to go down there on Friday after work and head back after tea on Sunday," Domenico says. "We have always wanted to build a home there and, when we found our corner block, it was a matter of finding a home that would suit it well. The design we chose has a lovely open and airy feel to it. It sits well on the block and, most importantly, it has a wrap-around balcony that allows us to make the most of the views."
The open-plan living and dining area and the main bedroom, with a generous ensuite, are located upstairs to capture the ocean views. Three more bedrooms and a second living area are downstairs, where their sons or friends often stay. "It was important for us to have the two separate living areas," Domenico says. "Like that, we can sit with friends upstairs and the boys can have their mates downstairs. "It is the same with the balcony. There are two separate areas where we can entertain friends if we want to."
A special treat for the Cosentinos was having three bathrooms in the home. "In our city home, we only have a single bathroom. So when we are down there, it is nice to have that privacy of our own bathroom, especially when we are there with friends," Domenico says. He says the house turned out exactly how they wanted, with its open spaces and plenty of room for entertaining and relaxing. "We love it there," he says. "Midwife and I appreciate the quiet and the surroundings.
When we are there, we can just relax and have our meals outside or sit and read the paper with a cup of tea. The boys like it a bit more for the beach activities. It is a perfect holiday home." The couple also imagine spending more time in Victor Harbor once they have retired.
