Large windows make the Patterson 2 Storey
by Sarah Homes a bright idea

Function, style and spatial awareness are central to the Patterson 2 Storey design by Sarah Homes. The home has four bedrooms, three on the lower level with the master suite upstairs, and spacious living areas on each floor. With it's innovative design, the home would suit a family who enjoy togetherness at meal times and privacy when necessary.

Sarah Homes' Helen Lowrie says the design pays close attention to zoning in the floorplan, particularly when it comes to the location of the bedrooms. "The zoning works well with families of all ages, as the adults can enjoy some peace away from noisy kids and teenagers," she says. "It also works well as a holiday home and catering for guests over the weekend." Ideal for those with a knack for entertaining, the home's upper level comprises the main living area and open-plan kitchen, with large windows and the option to include a balcony.

The living room on the ground floor also opens to the exterior and optional alfresco. "The options are endless for entertaining spaces, whether inside or out," Helen says. "Balconies and decks are optional and can be designed around each client's needs and desires, as well as where the home is built and the views available from the block." The home has an ensuite with shower and toilet, and a separate powder room with a toilet on the upper level, and a bathroom with a shower, bath tub and toilet on the lower floor.

The laundry is on the lower level and there's plenty of built-in storage throughout. Helen says the home "proves that a small footprint doesn't mean compromising on space". Throughout the home, there is feeling of space and brightness, which Helen says is thanks to the large windows. "The home design allows abundant natural sunlight to flood the home through generous windows and wide sliding doors," she says.
