Make your life a holiday every day when you step into the McCubbin 3E by Sarah Homes
Words John Merriman
Summertime and the living is easy……Well, wintertime and any other time can be easy too, thanks to this cleverly design home. The exterior and the interior combine to give a feel of carefree holidays spent at the beach. But the look would just as easily nestle into a bushland setting as a secluded retreat.
And how much would retreat living set you back? Just $76,000. The price tag makes the dream of owning a holiday home, or building a first home for many people, an achievable reality.
Sarah Homes sales manager Andrew Lindsay says the McCubbin floor plan had proved extremely popular since its release eight years ago.
"We have continued to make modifications to the design over the years based largely on feedback form clients," he says.
"In the 3E design, we have enlarged the front decking area, as well as increased the size of the main bedroom and added an ensuite. The decking is elevated to maximize views from the home and can be built up to any desired height."
The decking area is what sets it apart from other homes. Two sets of sliding glass doors lead outside, creating a large indoor-outdoor entertaining area.
Inside the home, the combined dining and living areas are large and two sets of louvered windows in the living area ensure good airflow and ventilation in the home.
"The home has been well zoned so you can have peaceful sleeping areas well away from the entertaining spaces," Andrew says. "Built-in wardrobes have been included in all the bedrooms and along with overhead cupboards in the kitchen and a linen press in the laundry, there is plenty of storage in the design."
Feature walls in the living area and main bedroom add a relaxed feel to the home in muted green (Kanga from Solver Paints). While flooring continues the earthy tone of the home with blackbutt used indoors and Kapur hardwood used on the deck.
